THE 2020 GATHERING
HAS BEEN CANCELED!
A Message from Transitional Intentional Interim Ministry Specialist Association, United Methodist:
Greetings to all –
The world has changed quickly and dramatically over these past few weeks. Nashville has experienced a deadly tornado and the area is in response mode from this disaster. Our host hotel is one of many that are operating disaster relief. Donelson Heights United Methodist church, where the Gathering was to be held, received some roof damage and are still without power. The Coronavirus has raised questions about people taking flights and questions about public gatherings, particularly of people coming from various parts of the nation that are now seeing outbreaks of infected folks. This is a difficult time for everyone involved.
Part of the ministry we are called to serve is about transitional needs and this certainly equates to the current situation. With due diligence the National Board of UM Intentional Interims – TIIMSA has made the decision to cancel the event. We regret the inconvenience this may cause, however, we believe it is the best step with the current situation.
We appreciate your prayers for this community, and in a month or two, we will send news of the next Gathering, once we have had an opportunity to reconvene.

Our Keynote Speaker: DR. GIL RENDLE
“Good leadership is not enough,” says Dr. Rendle who has facilitated conversations with denominational leaders for more than 40 years on how to deal with difficult times. His most recent 2019 book, QUIETLY COURAGEOUS, Leading the Church in a Changing World, presents a radically different way of thinking about leadership in the Church today. He will guide participants toward gaining the skills required for “telling the Story that will get us through the wilderness.”

Beginning as a United Methodist pastor and then serving as a consultant, Dr. Rendle has worked over the last 11 years, as a senior vice president of Leadership Ministry at Texas Methodist Foundation facilitating conversations with denominational leaders on how to lead courageously in today’s rapidly changing cultural and spiritual environment. He previously worked for 12 years with the Alban Institute (now Alban at Duke Divinity School) as an author and seminar leader.
