2022 TIIMSA Virtual Gathering
by Zoom Conference
was held MAY 10-11
Keynote Speaker:
REV. SUSAN BEAUMONT
In her book, HOW TO LEAD WHEN YOU DON’T KNOW WHERE YOU’RE GOING, Susan defines LIMINAL as “a quality of ambiguity or disorientation that occurs during transitions, when a person or group of people is in between something that has ended and something else that is not yet ready to begin.”
Her keynotes presented leadership tasks appropriate for these in-between times, blending sound organizational practices with a contemplative attitude of wonder and openness to discover and explore the soulfulness of an organization, such as a local church. We considered: clarifying institutional purpose, shaping institutional memory, deepening communal discernment, and nurturing emergence.
As a consultant, coach, author, and spiritual director, Susan has worked with hundreds of congregations and denominational bodies across the United States and Canada. She currently teaches at Wesley Theological Seminary. See more of Susan’s biographical statement at https://susanbeaumont.com/about/.
Before the event, all registrants were encouraged to read Susan Beaumont’s book, HOW TO LEAD WHEN YOU DON’T KNOW WHERE YOU’RE GOING: Leading in a Liminal Season available at Cokesbury or Amazon.
